from almost 4 decades and especially the trio that is to follow
one has to be oblivious to the light (heavy?) kitch which is the common point between the scenario from Hofmanstahl and the many strange plot of this Strauss opera. but once you get a bit deeper than skin deep' one is astounded by the pure beauty of the music expressed through the feminine voices.
this music was the pretext for many extraordinary sopranos and mezzos to be at their best.
many times, it has this fabulous qualities that Mozart had when he mixed voices together in trios up to sextets which were at his time the real beginning of the german romantic operas with its intrinseque qualities of drama or joy rendering through mere human expression : singing
Strauss adored women and he proved it again and again through all his operas by giving few good roles for men singing and the middle range roles for women
in die Rosenkavalieren it comes to an apotheosis of beauty and soft tragic with his delicate comprehention hence of woman's particular solitude when beauty passes away with age and hence when love eclores softly in the heart of a young one,.
we are left here with the multiple choices of female singers being at their best when given the roles hence a wide variety of voices and emotions rendered through their voices
Strauss was my favourite when i sang opera
his music fit my voice perfectly and i reached through him a few extraodinary moments of perfection sensations
and when this feeling is felt as well throughout and reaching the small crowd that listened to me with one particular listener crying at the end of my rendition of one of his lieder, i felt that i had accomplished my trip on earth and that nothing more needed to be done for me.
i left my opera career for many reason, the main one being that it was too late.
but i will never forget.
i would hve loved to bring this gift of beauty to a daughter eventually but i am childbare
so that part of my life is over and i will never be able to complete and give back to life what life had granted me
in itself', the none giving birth of a child of mine was a long long drama to overcome.
but this is a silent drama of mine and mine alone
one that finds accents of truth through out this so delicately feminine opera
now i am left with the choice of either accomplishing at best the remnants of my days or to accomplish the beauty of my waning and death
Strauss spoke as well of that
so perfectly well
through his last written lieder
i let you discover it alone
