in fact an everyday battle 

a battle where you have to impose yourself and take the power

as a sub; it is such a comfortable situation when i give the power to the Other

but, to ,make the matter so simpler, one is NEVER really giving total power to the Other *

it is a myth 

we are three dimensional individuals and as such we do always act, especially in matters of love and relationship 

in terms of state and culture it dis indeed another discussion worth to observe and go deep in 

but it seems that love is a universal need with many expressions and not the other way around
