I was listening to a podcast about the Marquis de Sade

If your English is good I recommend the Rest  is History with Tom Holland ( not spiderman) and Domanic Sandbrook

I did try reading the 120 days of Sodom and never  got far

I tried Justine and Juliette. Same

What these historians gave was an sight to the historical times and De Sades beliefs

Facinating

Did not  realise he was a masocist 

Did not realise his philosophy was so deep and globally influencial

Did not realise he was imprisoned without trial

He escaped execution 

Truly remarkable considering he spent much of his life in prison

He was a real genius
