When 12 o'clock rang in the old bell tower of the city, KrisHoney decided to come out of his
slumber. The day that was to be his, the day his friends wished him a happy birthday, turned out to
be the bleakest day of the year. Turning 20 in 2106 was not easy enough, but the fact that no one
bothered to think of him when it was not, after all, commonplace to be born on July 4, made him
feel a dull anger. I need to let off steam, he thought.
He leapt up from his chair and rushed to his secret closet, which he opened deferentially. With
precise gestures, he unfolded a khaki travel bag whose thick canvas smelled like sweat. He slipped
in about twenty loaders filled with bullets, two vintage-looking handguns and his good old Uzi,
which his childhood friend BubblySnow had given him the day before they started school. He put
on two big leather boots and grabbed the flyer on his desk promoting the new theme park
KATIBAH, which stands for the now popular slogan "kill all the idiot bioprinted alive human".
For $100 a ticket, the promise was tantalizing: hundreds of humans in printed flesh were just
waiting to be shot to agonize in painful rales that would give you abundant bursts of adrenaline,
endorphin and oxytocin for hours. What happiness, just thinking about it!" KrisHoney thought to
himself.
Of course, on the border between Texas and Oklahoma, defenders of these creatures were rare,
unlike in Washington or New York, where so-called enlightened minds were campaigning for a ban
on the abuse of these bio-printed humans. It was no coincidence that the park was set up in this
deserted part of one of the last states to fervently support the carrying of weapons.
"I don't give a damn about these scatterbrained piles of flesh", the young man grumbled.
“I'm going to toss them with a few slugs , it's going to do me good”. And he left the apartment.
It was then that, in the stairwell, sounds of female heels resounded. A young woman dressed in
French clothes appeared and stopped when she saw him.
- Hello KrisHoney! Where are you going to?
- Forget it, sis, you're not going to like it.
- Wait, don't tell me you're going to bother the bio-printed humans at the education center again.- Those? Might as well teach goldfish the formula for solving fifth-degree polynomials! When are
you going to understand that they're just pieces of synthetic flesh put together. They have neither
intelligence nor consciousness. By the way, look...
He opened his bag and revealed the black and elongated mouth of his Uzi.
- I'm going for a walk to discover the new park. They say you can strafe those grease balls at will.
They even have a kindergarten where you can make carnage. It's going to be so cool!
- You're really the last of the dumb kids, you know that?
The young woman looked at him defiantly. Then suddenly her face relaxed and tears rolled down
her cheeks.
- Don't go there, KrisHoney, please, don't you understand? You can't do this, these people are just
like us. They feel everything, understand everything and have the same feelings and emotions as we
do. Killing these humans is murder.
- Oh please stop with your two cents morals. They are morons without a single brain cell. Here,
look, it's written on this flyer.
He showed the flyer and read aloud the paragraph about the general conditions of operation of the
park.
"The bio-printed humans made available to customers have no form of intelligence. Their cries and
mimics of suffering are the result of reflex mechanisms and are by no means the manifestation of
real suffering. Being unaware of living, they are unaware of death, and the clients can indulge in the
exaltation of their murder fantasies without becoming a murderer. »
The boy paused, but his sister pointed to the next paragraph and continued reading.
"Be careful not to shoot our staff members. To make sure they are bio-printed humans that you have
in your sights, just look at their hands. You'll easily see that their thumbs are pointing outward
instead of inward. »
- You see, little sister, they are only pieces of flesh, and badly assembled on top of that.
- Forget it, you're really too stupid.
And, without asking for the rest, the young woman entered the apartment and slammed the door
with a bang.
An hour later, KrisHoney, all cheerful, took his Uzi and his handguns out of his bag and started to
load them, when suddenly he had a flash of lucidity that froze him on the spot.
He looked at his gun and trembled. He knew it was different from the ones displayed in the window
of the Bellemort armory but he had never understood how. He looked carefully at the hammer, that
small piece that was operated with the thumb to cock the barrel. And then, with his heart beating, he
understood.
Instead of being on top of the gun, it was mounted under the stock
