The pirates and the gods

Long time ago in days of Yore
The pirates and the gods joined together for war,
The pirates said "God see that distant horizon,
Grasp it bring it closer
Let bygone be bygone."
The Gods heard and saw,
As the storm grew stronger,
The pirates held fast,
For that distant yonder,

Now as the storm grew foul,
It was the pirates dread,
They would sink to their grave,
To that old sea bed,
Or be tossed in the swell,
With hells contrive,
The terror of sharks,
And be eaten alive,
Then the pirates' man stepped forward,
A big old fellow named Jack,
"A fights a fight" he bellowed,
"And I'll never turn my back,

With a cutlass at his side,
And a patch across his eye,
He looked towards his mates on board,
And they cheered to Jack "Aye aye".

In one hand he held a map,
Clenched tightly in his fist,
And he looked above for the Gods,
Through the spray and through the mist,
Now Jack was prone to temper,
With or with out a drink,
And he cast that parchment down,
As his temper hit the brink,
His eyes searched the heavens,
His ship was tossed around,
He saw the clouds quicken pace,
But the Gods could not be found,
"I damn you" he cursed from the top of his voice,
"We came together for this war,
Now you leave me with no choice,
There's a soul out there that's lost,
Near damned with tormenting,
Devils taunt his every turn,
Day and night they are unrelenting,
Would ya leave me here to drown
Amidst these boiling waves,
Or would ya quell this storm,
And set a course, so we'll all see better days?"

And with that the gods came down,
And whispered in his ear,
"I am God and I will guide you,
And this storm is gone the morrow,
But I beg you son as a father to his child,
Let beauty have its sorrow."

Brave Jack was not done yet,
As he stood upon his prow,
He took a stance and raised his arms,
The time to act was now,
With a voice as deep as thunder,
That made the gods turns back,
And a face so mad and raging, he went on the attack,
"I'll free that soul whose scream is heard,
When carried on the wind,
Who's only crime, as is Gods, but not mine,
Was never to have sinned"
His arms were raised and from his fingertips came,
A mixture of blood and lightening,
And it hit that scroll with a mighty blast,
That scroll that lay before him,
Now that scroll was rolled,
But when the lightening hit,
It slowly began to open,
With a life of its own Jack looked on,
Perplexed and a little uncertain,
When the map was opened up,
There could be no surprise,
Of the shock, the fear, the horror, that was in jacks eyes,

"Were for it now" Jack cried to the Gods
"Or is what I see merely fable"
The map contained the universe,
And it lay upon Jack's table,

Voices from that deepest map,
Sang softly to there savior,
"Hail to brave pirate Jack,
And hail to the creator"
Then turned those gentle voices,
From the stars and constellations,
Into hissing and baleful tones,
Screaming for Jacks annihilation,
"You jack will be ourssssssss" they hissed,
Like vipers in a den,
And with his eyes transfixed,
The beauty and the danger,
Began to beckon him,
With a lurch and a scowl and hypnotized,
Jack dived into the maps night sky,
A maniac's smile crossed Jack's craggy face,
And a twinkle was in his eye,
A glance back and he was gone,
Howling like a banshee,
He crossed in to the world of dreams,
And on to endless bounty.

The stars in the map all glittered and
Shimmered,
And with childlike voices of glee,
Laughed out loud and taunted,
"That's the last of Jack you'll see."

And the gods looked on from heaven,
Yet not with dismay,
The stars in the map did not know,
The pirates and the gods had planned it this way.

For that was not the end of pirate jack,
As many will testify,
We've all seen Jack's pirate ship,
Glittering like diamonds in the night sky,
With jack at the helm, he'll sing his pirate song,
Of days to come and days long gone,
Of pirate thieves on midnight tides,
Of dusky maidens with emerald eyes,
Of buried treasure on secret isles,
Of toothless grins and gold tooth smiles,
With campfires, music and dancing
In hidden coves,
Under starry moonlit sky's
For he saves lost souls, Old pirate Jack
And helps them on their way,
With a yo ho ho and a bottle of rum,
Across the milky way.
